About him
I split my time between my "compact and bijou flat" in Edinburgh and my "country house" outside of Inverness. Retired a couple years ago from a job that allowed me to travel the world, live overseas and earn a good crust.
I like to travel and see the magnificent wildlife, scenery and cultures that the world can offer. However good those places are, Scotland has still an awful lot to beat.
Life has been good and bad but I like to think I have learnt from it. People think of me as happy and fun to be with; a friendly sort of person who finds it easy to engage with people and get them talking. Two ears and one mouth sort of thing I suppose. Others may think of me as full of bull but who am I to cast aspersions about their flawed characters !
My main hobby is taking photographs whether it be wildlife, far flung cities or the beauty of Scotland's natural habitat. At present I am trying to write a travel log/photo guide on the Chobe River in Botswana. However like Winnie the Pooh (who I take as a role model for many things in life) I have a little brain and big words bother me, so it is taking some time. These days I also refrain from walking about wearing only a t-shirt like he does.
About his ideal match
I am curious and dread the idea of not learning - it could be a new word, the name of the capital city of a country, a scientific break through, an economic policy that works (could be a long wait), an honest politician (an even longer wait) or a new meal I want to try and cook. The list is endless. I like to talk about and discuss anything and everything from what's going on today, to food, literature, lifestyles, cultures, music and the world.
We all have something to offer as each and everyone of us is unique with different traits, experiences and wishes. I prefer to be with people who get on and get things done rather than those who sit back and wait for it to come on a plate.
I think of myself as quick witted with a degree of learning so would need somebody to match me with some humour, logical reasoning and resilience and then throw it back at me with more.
I like the finer things in life and appreciate quality. Think more Michelin Guide than Weatherspoons, more Barbour than Primark, more Mercedes than Kia, more Stephen Fry than Michael McIntyre.
So are the above ideals that you live by and want me, your partner, to have? If so, then reply on a postcard or back of a stuck down envelope. However they do say opposites attract, so maybe I have it all wrong and I need to see and appreciate life from a different angle.
